What Is The Minimum Thickness For A Concrete Driveway?
The minimum recommended thickness for a concrete driveway is 4 inches. Ideally, as a concrete contractor, we recommend a 5-6 inch concrete driveway with proper reinforcements built in. But you can certainly accomplish a small driveway with just 4 inches.
One reason we recommend a slightly thicker concrete slab is the Wisconsin weather. Here in our area, the bitter cold winters mixed with the hot summers expand and contract concrete so much that having thicker slabs helps longevity. No one wants to redo their concrete driveways after 5 years so we encourage our customers to invest the few extra dollars into a slightly thicker and reinforced driveway to last longer. |
